Yonkers Arts Weekend 2015
Thursday, April 30th "The Announcement"
On Thursday, April 30th 2014, marked a very exciting day for the Yonkers art community! Mayor Spano announced the formation of the Carpet Mills Arts District ("CMAD") in partnership with the carpet mill building owners, YOHO Artists and the creative industrials that call the Carpet Mills home. As the former home to the Alexander Smith Carpet Mills, this incredible million sq. ft. industrial complex is already home to artist studios, maker space and will be designated as a new arts district in the City of Yonkers. This marks the first time that all of the owners are working collaboratively on the future of the complex.
Randy Rose, President of the Rose Collection, generously donated one of his custom made bronze statues to the City of Yonkers. The Rose Collection is a family owned and operated company that specializes in handmade bronze garden sculpture, statues, fountains and accessories for home, garden and public spaces.
Downtown Waterfront District Galleries & Street Artists
The Downtown Waterfront District Pop-up galleries increased in the 2nd annual Yonkers Arts Weekend and a new street art program was introduced including the work of Fumero, Damien Mitchell, CRASH and Wall Work NY.
