Painting, Mixed media
My work reflects a pop sensibility that I’ve always had. I’m a member of the first TV generation, after all and soaked up quite a bit! It was further shaped by years of working in the Music and
Entertainment industry in New York City. I approach painting with a conscious sense of color, but using unconventional materials. I put to use the blingy, shiny effects of various foils, glitters and metallic paints. I would term it “Semi-faux Precious” for the use of imagery such as crowns, and a playful use of cheap plastic gemstones, decorative tapes, patterned papers, etc.. Imagine a Mardi Gras float in a mash-up collision with a billboard for a casino. Thats where the action begins — In the vivid world of color and sparkle that contribute to an overall sense of revelry and fun.
